Daraa , Syria – At least 30 civilians were killed and dozens others wounded on Wednesday in the province of Daraa, south of Syria, due to aerial bombardment by the pro-regime helicopters on a camp for displaced people.
Haitham Nassar, civil rights activist from Daraa, told ARA News that the majority of the casualties were women and children.
“The air strikes targeted a camp of displaced Syrian families in al-Shajara town in Daraa countryside,” he said.
“The injured were taken to several nearby medical centers, as critical cases were transferred to the Jordanian border to be treated in Jordan’s governmental hospitals,” Nassar added.
Notably, more than 300 displaced families from several villages and towns of Daraa countryside reside in the camp of al-Shajara town, after the Jordanian government denied them entry to its territory.
