Car bomb attack hit Damascus, casualties reported

Damascus, Syria – A car bomb attack hit on Saturday the city of Duma in the eastern Ghouta of Damascus countryside, resulting in several casualties among civilians.

Talking to ARA News, Ahmad Sabbagh, civil activist based in Damascus, said: “The car bomb exploded in a popular market in central Duma, killing two civilians including a child, while dozens others were injured in the incident.”

Meanwhile, the pro-Regime helicopters dropped two explosive barrels on the rebels-held city of Darayya in Damascus countryside on Saturday evening, coinciding with artillery bombardment on the city from the regime-held headquarters of the Fourth Division. Dozens of casualties were reported in Darayya attack.

The pro-Assad military forces also shelled the city of Zabadani in the western countryside of Damascus with heavy artillery. No casualties reported.

Saturday’s developments coincided with clashes between the pro-Assad forces (backed by Shiite Lebanese militants of Hezbollah) and rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the Assal al-Wared area in Qalamoon Heights of Damascus province. The sporadic clashes continued until Saturday midnight.
