Damascus, Syria – Two civilians were reported dead and ten others wounded on Monday due to heavy bombardment launched by the pro-regime military forces on Duma town in Damascus suburbs, local sources reported.
Speaking to ARA News, Mazen Ibrahim, civil activist from the city of Damascus, said that the pro-regime forces stationed in the Vehicles Administration branch in Harasta district targeted the nearby Duma with heavy artillery and mortar fire, killing two civilians and wounding ten others, who were transferred to Duma field hospital.
Ibrahim pointed out that the pro-regime military forces also targeted al-Miqelibeh town in Damascus with heavy artillery from its base in Brigade 75, while the pro-Assad warplanes bombed the city of Zabadani with explosive, without recording any casualties.
Ahmad Sabbagh, civil rights activist from the city of Damascus, stated to ARA News that the pro-Assad warplanes targeted Zebdin area near the town of Maliha in Damascus countryside, coinciding with clashes between the Syrian army forces on the one hand, and rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Islamic battalions on the other hand.
“Meanwhile, the pro-regime forces targeted the vicinity of the clashes with mortars and heavy artillery,” Sabbagh added.
This comes as clashes broke out between the pro-regime military forces on the one hand, and rebels of the FSA on the other hand, in the neighborhood of Jobar east of the capital Damascus, near the Abbasids district. The clashes were accompanied with artillery shelling by the regime forces on the neighborhood launched from their headquarters in Qasion Mount, according to locals.
